Appetizer of the Day


Appetizer #9 of Set 2:

What is an analysis?  What information do you think should be included in the analysis of a poem?



Today's Assignment

You will have today to work on completing the following:

1.  Create a document in your Poetry Folder and name it "How To Be..."  Type a minimum 15 line poem giving specific instructions (based on research) on how to be your chosen poet (refer to the link on yesterday's blog);

2.  Find a poem by the poet that you like and understand.  Copy and paste the poem to a document and name the document the title of the poem;

3.  Create another document in your Poetry Folder and name it Literary Analysis of "Name of your poem." What should be included in your literary analysis?  Type a one-page, double-spaced, 12-14 font literary analysis of the poem.  Include the Works Cited information for the source(s) used at the foot of the literary analysis.



***All of the above are due by Monday, October 19th.  You will be reading your "How To Be..." Poem, the selected poem of the poet, and your analysis of the poem to the class.  The assignment will count as a TEST GRADE, so do a good job!
